Dead & Company Debut "Quinn The Eskimo" Cover in San Francisco - jambands.com

Dead & Company opened their New Year’s Run in San Francisco on Monday night, offering a slew of Grateful Dead favorites as well as the live debut of Bob Dylan’s “Quinn The Eskimo.”

The show kicked off with a funky “Shakedown Street” which led Bob Weir to later write, via Instagram, “Don’t tell me this town ain’t got no heart!”

Dead & Company’s “Shakedown” bled into a nice “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleoo” before landing in a rockin’ “Cumberland Blues.”

From there, set one was highlighted by a sing-along of “High Time” and a closing “Bird Song.”

Dead & Company’s second half in the Grateful Dead’s former hometown featured an opening “The Music Never Stopped”> “Deal” jam, and the improv continued through the eight-part “St Stephen”> “The Eleven”> “Turn On Your Love Light”> “Drums”> “Space”> “The Wheel”> “Stella Blue”> “Casey Jones.”

The aforementioned “Quinn The Eskimo” acted as D&C’s lone encore at the Chase Center.

Dead & Company will return to the Chase Center tonight – Dec. 31 – as they ring in the New Year.

Check out Monday’s full setlist, as seen in our Box Scores section, and videos of each set-opener below:
