On-demand restaurant delivery company Bite Squad is expecting a big day on Super Bowl Sunday, and is preparing for game day with extra drivers on staff. Just for fun, the company has released a list of the top 10 items people order for the big game.
Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest delivery days for the company, which began in Minneapolis in 2012, with 17 restaurant partners and five delivery drivers. Today the company operates in more than 375 cities across the U.S. with 10,000 drivers and 11,000 partner restaurants. In Grand Forks the company has 20 drivers and is partnered with 34 restaurants. Customers order either online or through a smartphone application from restaurants not typically associated with delivery.
“I'm not going to be surprised that we'll be having lots of orders and will be doubling up on them,” said Hannah Shawstad, lead driver for Bite Squad in Grand Forks. She has worked for the company since it began operations in Grand Forks in November, 2018. “The nice thing is that we have some new bags so we’re able to take more orders and keep them all warm.”
Shawstad said the delivery company has bumped up the number of drivers for Sunday to 14. A usual day sees about 10 drivers on duty.
She said she enjoys working for the company but weather can play a factor in how smoothly her work goes, especially when it gets busy.

“It depends on the day, especially when it’s blizzarding it gets a little hectic. But I don’t mind the challenge,” she said “I do enjoy being kept busy.”
According to a press release from the company, Super Bowl Sunday is second only to Thanksgiving Day for business volume.
“Super Bowl Sunday is huge for us,” said Brian Smith, Bite Squad director of field operations. “We know people hosting parties depend upon Bite Squad to cater for their guests on game day, so we did the research for our customers to find out what people crave the most.”
