State launches interactive feature for online jobs portal - Crain's Cleveland Business

The state of Ohio's online job-search site, TopJobs.Ohio.gov, went live the second week in December with an upgraded, interactive dashboard and search function, according to an announcement from InnovateOhio.

The website, which previously only featured a static list of available high-demand jobs, now allows Ohioans to view and sort positions by region and industry.

The In-Demand Jobs List site links to the OhioMeansJobs site, where job seekers can find information on education, training and financial aid.

The In-Demand Jobs List is created using predictive data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, projections from JobsOhio, job-posting trends and survey responses submitted by businesses across the state.

To qualify as "high-demand," jobs on the list must pay at least 80% of the state median wage ($14.10 or more per hour) in an industry with more job openings than the statewide average.

"The updated tools at TopJobs.Ohio.gov are built for Ohio students and workers who are trying to figure out what is next for their education and career," Lt. Gov. Jon Husted said.

The website improvements were part of a partnership between the InnovateOhio platform's data analytics team and Gov. Mike DeWine's office of workforce transformation.
