A private jet company that said its planes were used in Carlos Ghosn’s escape from Japan said Friday it has filed a criminal complaint against an employee who allegedly aided Mr. Ghosn.
The company, Turkey-based MNG Jet, said it filed the complaint following an internal investigation that found an employee falsified records related to the flights.
MNG Jet said its planes were leased for Mr. Ghosn’s benefit, but it didn’t specifically say whether he was aboard a flight from Kansai International Airport near Osaka, Japan, to Turkey, and a subsequent flight on a different plane from Turkey that landed in Lebanon on Monday.
The company said it filed its complaint on Wednesday after press reports, including in The Wall Street Journal, cited suspicions that Mr. Ghosn used its planes to travel to Lebanon from Japan via Turkey.
Turkey on Thursday said it detained seven people in relation to Mr. Ghosn’s transit through the country, including four pilots who flew the two planes.
The company said the planes were booked by separate people, and at the time it didn’t believe the bookings were related. MNG Jet said it had no record of Mr. Ghosn’s use of the plane.
It said an employee, whom it didn’t name, admitted falsifying records without authorization from MNG Jet’s management.
The company hasn’t filed a complaint against Mr. Ghosn.
Mr. Ghosn, the former chairman of Nissan Motor Co. who was facing criminal charges in Tokyo, said Tuesday that he escaped to Lebanon because he didn’t think he could get a fair trial in Japan.
