STRATFORD, CT — It appears the majority of jobs at Amazon's newly announced Stratford delivery station will be part-time, according to the Connecticut Post, which quoted a company spokesman as saying that typically delivery station employees are attracted by the part-time schedule.
The company will require hundreds of drivers, as well as an unknown number of managers and sorters, when it opens the facility next year, Stratford Director of Economic Development Mary Dean has confirmed. Starting wages at Amazon facilities are typically $15 per hour, with the company offering a variety of benefits packages, the Post reported.
The Seattle-based e-commerce giant signed a seven-year lease earlier in the month for two buildings at 500 Long Beach Blvd. and 600 Long Beach Blvd., where it will operate the roughly 200,000-square-foot facility.
About three months before opening the Stratford location, Amazon will contact the town to organize a job fair or other ways to spread awareness about hiring, Dean has said.
In addition to more jobs, the Stratford delivery station could also mean faster deliveries for customers across the region, according to the Post.
The facility is expected to open as early as spring 2020.
