■ 米国のヨガ人口は2,240万人
世界的に健康やヨガに対しての関心が増加傾向にあります。米国では、毎年実施する「国民健康聞取り調査（NHIS）」に加え、国立補完統合衛生センター（NCCIH）と国立衛生統計センター（NCHS）が作成した補完的な健康調査を2002年から5年ごとに実施しています。

2012年の第3回調査と2017年の第4回調査の結果を比較したところ、過去12ヶ月にヨガを行った米国成人の割合は、2012年時点の9.5％から2017年に14.3％まで増えました。その規模は2240万人にのぼるとみられています。 国立補完統合衛生センターのデビッド・シュルトレフ博士は、2017年の調査結果について「かつてないほど多くの米国人が心と身体を重視するアプローチを取り入れていることを示すものだ」と述べています。

■ 国内のヨガ実践者は推定770万人
日本においては、ヨガジャーナル日本版調査2017より、日本のヨガ人口は、月に1回以上行っている人が約590万人、年1回以上の実施者は約770万人と推定されています。また、潜在者を含めた今後のヨガ人口は約1600万人と推定されています。

■ The Number of yoga practitioners in Japan is approximately 7.7 million.
Japanese yoga journal in 2017 has estimated that 5.9 million people do yoga once a month and 7.7 million people do once a year in Japan. Also,they estimate that the population of yoga will be 16 million including the potential in the future.
